Omnitrol Networks adds real-time wide-area EPCIS capabilities to its award-winning work-in-process visibility solution

Chicago, IL: October 2, 2007 - Omnitrol Networks announced today that it has integrated its award winning and the industry's first real-time work-in-process visibility appliance with standards-based EPC Information Services (EPCIS) to provide customers with total RFID-based visibility across their supplier operations.

The OMNITROL work-in-process (WIP) solution provides manufacturers with completely automated and contact-less real-time operational visibility to track work orders with manufacturing traceability on parts and personnel improving overall production efficiency and quality. The wide-area edition of the OMNITROL WIP solution allows manufacturers and their suppliers to share critical availability information on parts in real-time to minimize waste, errors and delays.

The sharing of real-time edge applications and sensors data across the supply chain offers new opportunities for manufacturers to identify and implement waste reduction processes. Component orders status information from the suppliers can be integrated directly into the OMNITROL wide-area WIP network to enable real-time management of delays, change-orders, defects and forecasts with their suppliers and partners manufacturing operations.

"The costs of not detecting production delays or changes at the right time have an exponential effect through the production life cycle, distribution, sales and customer satisfaction," said David Orain, Vice-President Marketing at Omnitrol Networks. "The wide-area edition of the OMNITROL WIP solution now allows companies to easily collaborate on their operational inter-dependencies to optimize their business processes and attack all sorts of waste."

The release of the wide-area real-time WIP visibility solution integrated with IBM's WebSphere RFID Information Centerâ„¢ represents the next step in exchanging order status information across the supply-chain. The OMNITROL solution hides the complexity of RFID based automated data collection while enabling powerful integration of manufacturing intelligence across manufacturers operations without expensive back-end or middleware integration.

Omnitrol Networks was just selected by Managing Automation as one of the top 10 companies to watch in 2008, and has received the 2007 product innovation award for best RFID middleware from Frost and Sullivan. The wide-area edition of the OMNITROL WIP solution will be demonstrated at the EPC Connection conference in Chicago, October 2-4, 2007.

Omnitrol Networks Integrates IBM RFID Software into Work-In-Process Appliance

Solution Targets Integrated Global Operations for Manufacturers

Mountain View, CA and Armonk, NY (April 17, 2008) - Omnitrol Networks and IBM today announced that Omnitrol has embedded IBM’s WebSphere RFID Information Center software into the OMNITROL Work-In-Process (WIP) appliance to create an EPC-based traceability and tracking solution for the manufacturing and logistics industries.

The OMNITROL WIP Appliance integrates all the data from the sensors, RFID readers, mobile handheld devices, and other shop floor equipment to improve monitoring of the supply-chain, inventory, manufacturing, shipping and delivery of products. The appliance helps manufacturers reduce costs and time to market by identifying production issues internally and throughout their supply chain.

IBM’s WebSphere RFID Information Center enhances the OMNITROL WIP appliance by allowing customers to share product movement information with trading partners using solutions that comply with GS1 EPCglobal’s EPC Information Services (EPCIS) standard. EPCIS provides a data model for events including shipping and receiving of uniquely identified objects such as units, cases, and pallets. It also defines interfaces for capturing product movement data and for securely sharing that information with customers and suppliers. The IBM software includes an optional ePedigree feature that gives trading partners secure access to historical data on individual items across complex supply chains.

“Our relationship with IBM allows us to offer an EPC compliant solution that enables real-time collaboration across a manufacturer’s global supply chain,” said Ravi Rishy-Maharaj, vice president of business development for Omnitrol Networks. “IBM’s WebSphere RFID Information Center software, combined with our OMNITROL WIP appliance, substantially reduces the cost and complexity of the deployment of global track and trace solutions.”

“IBM is expanding the solutions marketplace by signing OEM agreements that allow our partners to embed IBM software into their own solutions.” said Daren Hanson, director of IBM OEM software sales. Through this OEM agreement, Omnitrol has incorporated IBM software into its own product in order to rapidly deliver a solution that is targeted to its customers needs. By teaming with IBM as a source of innovation, the company can bring its solution to market more quickly than if they were to develop a new solution from the ground up.”

Omnitrol Networks ends 2007 with a bang

Mountain View, CA: December 20, 2007 - Omnitrol Networks announced today that its RFID middleware application network appliance has been featured in the latest Venture Development Corporation report on RFID middleware.

Venture Development Corporation (VDC) is a technology market research and strategy firm with over 30 years of experience in providing market research, strategic analysis and consulting services to technology companies worldwide. The VDC 2007 Opportunity and Requirements analysis report on RFID middleware provides quantitative and qualitative analyses of global demand for RFID middleware solutions. For this report, VDC analysts conducted in-depths interviews with end-users, system integrators, consultants and industry associations. Profiles included in this report are remised solely to suppliers that are either current or emerging market leaders.

The VDC analysts reported that they expect organizations to distribute their enterprise architecture to aggregate and process data generated from RFID at the edge of the network. “The edge is typically where organizations have the least amount of visibility and control,” wrote Andrew Nathanson, Director of VDC’s Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) Practice. “The OMNITROL solution delivers a new generation network appliance encapsulating all RFID processing and management, thereby eliminating back-end development, reducing setup and support costs for edge deployments.”

The OMNITROL provides workflow and edge service creation, business process integration, device management, and service management and provisioning into one single network appliance. According to the VDC report, the OMNITROL solution is AIDC, frequency, and technology-agnostic which allows customers to mix and match technologies in their RFID projects and future-proof their solutions.
